So you have saved all year round and you have accumulated enough to get away for a week's break in an exotic location abroad. After booking your flights and hotel you have the option to upgrade your hotel room, should you? Many hotels will provide great value for money when upgrading but others will offer the upgrade as way to make extra cash for offering you services which you will not use.
Especially with the credit crunch tightening our financial belts, it is more important now to ensure we are not being ripped off so research is the best route in any aspect.
Upgrades can include bigger rooms, access to executive lounges, executive rooms to goody bags and fluffy slippers. Find out which of these you will actually need or even use, if you cannot see yourself using any then is there any reason to have them? No, so cancel them.
A spokesperson for an executive travel agency has said that "Hotel upgrades can provide excellent value but you need to be sure to take advantage of the benefits."
For some, the executive lounges will come as an essential break away from the 24/7 hotel reception or bars, a chance to kick back and enjoy a tranquil coffee or a quiet read of your book.
So when you are asked if you want to upgrade your room, be sure to weigh up your options and research prices, there is no point in your silk dressing gown with fluffy slippers collecting dust for the next visitor.
